In collaboration with Bidur Municipality and Patan Mental Health Hospital, our psychiatric services began as a monthly clinic (held on the second Monday of each month) and have now evolved into regular services over the past three years. This transition addresses the rising prevalence of mental health disorders in our community and ensures sustained access to critical psychiatric care.
Outpatient Services (OPD)
- General Psychiatric Consultations:
- Mood disorders (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder).
- Psychotic disorders (schizophrenia).
- Trauma-related conditions , OCD
- perinatal mental health (Prenatal/postpartum depression,anxiety, psychosis screening and management
- Substance use disorders (alcohol, opioids, tobacco)- De-addiction counseling, relapse prevention, harm reduction strategies.
- Child & adolescent mental health (behavioral issues,enuresis, encopresis, school refusal). Refer to child psychiatrists
- Geriatric mental health (dementia, delirium, late-life depression).
- Prison Mental Health Services: Psychiatric evaluations and medication management for incarcerated individuals (Collaboration with psychiatry nurse and Psychosocial counselor)
- Headache (Assessment and management of migraines, tension-type headaches, and headaches NOS, integrated care for stress-related headaches and medication-overuse disorders.
- Epilepsy (Psychiatric care for patients with epilepsy (anxiety, depression, cognitive impairments,Counseling for medication adherence and lifestyle modifications)
- Diagnostic Evaluations: Risk assessments for suicide, self-harm, and substance use.
- Medication Management: Tailored regimens with regular follow-ups for chronic conditions.
Psychotherapy & Counseling:
- Individual, couples, and family therapy.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Counselling Service (Collaboration with Psychiatric nurses and psychosocial counsellor)
Dedicated Inpatient Services
- Short-term admission (2 beds) for acute psychiatric crises (severe depression, psychosis, suicidal ideation
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT): For severe, treatment-resistant depression or catatonia.
CONSULTATION-LIAISON PSYCHIATRY
- Integrated Care for Hospitalized Patients:
- Mental health support for chronic pain, cancer, post-stroke depression, and delirium.
- Comorbidity management (diabetes, hypertension, HIV with psychiatric illness).
- Pre- and post-surgical evaluation for mental illness
- Delirium Tremens in collaboration with Medicine department
- Telepsychiatry: Remote consultations for rural follow-ups and emergency assessments.
COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS
- Awareness Campaigns:
- Stigma reduction, suicide prevention (collaboration with Bidur Municipality for psychosocial counselling service).
- School/College Workshops:
- Stress management, exam anxiety, bullying prevention, and resilience-building.
- Outreach Services:
- Mental health camps for elderly, low-income groups, and rural populations.
- Psychosocial Interventions:
- Collaborative counseling with OCMC/Bidur Municipality for vocational rehab, family support.
